Yay for pink hockey sticks!

My daughter has been playing hockey for years. We were very happy when she kept it up for fun at university! There was a fun tournament last weekend. Of course we went to watch and of course I took the camera. More recently St. Mary's University threatened to cut the female hockey team due to budget cuts. There was a huge outcry and the team was saved. In honour of them and girls everywhere who play the sport I give you these :)

and for fun, I give you D'Arcy- the hockey loving border collie :) (totally different game but fun nonetheless).

St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg

A person in my photo club arranged for us to be able to go inside St. John's Anglican Church. This church was the second oldest church in Canada. In November 2001 it burned to the ground. By 2005 it was rebuilt- exactly as it had been before. More info can be found here:http://www.stjohnslunenburg.org I love churches. I am not so much into organized religion but there's a quietness and beauty in churches that I admire.

I should explain this last picture- when I was upstairs I found this little room where the robes are kept. I wanted to get a soft picture using just the light from the window. the room was so quiet and hushed I felt far away. When I loaded up my photos I found that. It's an artifact from movement I believe. Or it's a ghost.

The Equine Connection

one of the competitions of our Photo Club is a 'Silent Essay'. I confess I was stymied as to what to do but decided to try to bring my love of horses and photography together. So I chose 12 photos that I took this year at horse shows and other events and put them together. The aim was to show the connection between people and horses.

Outhouse Views

I became fascinated with a couple outhouses on my trip to Stonehurst. The first one that caught my eye was held up by guy wires. I thought that it was an interesting fix- it must be due to the high winds but perhaps not. But imagine yourself sitting there knowing it's being held up by wires....

And this one is far out on the edge. Literally. It makes sense, the whole place is built on granite so it would be impossible to dig a hole. It is important to be logical.

This last photo is the same outhouse but when I was poking around looking for sea vistas I saw this through the branches and with the sun, well I couldn't resist!

Stonehurst

I've not been able to take photos lately for a number of reasons: work, life, weather, illness all seemed to conspire to keep my camera in my bag. However, last Sunday was a beautiful springlike day so I went on a trek with a couple friends. Stonehurst is on the edge of the water in Lunenburg County. Up until recently it's been a well kept secret. That makes it magical and each time you turn around there's something new to find. Here are some images from that day
